Static Host UK is a free, UK-based hosting platform for static websites built with Hugo, Jekyll, or plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It’s designed for developers and businesses who want fast, simple hosting without sending their data — or their visitors’ data — through US cloud providers.
Why We Built It
Over the years, we’ve helped dozens of small businesses get their websites online. And every time, the same problem comes up: the hosting options are either too complicated, too expensive, or run entirely through American infrastructure with all the GDPR headaches that brings.
We wanted something simpler. Push your code, your site goes live. No fiddling with build servers, no CLI tools to install, no surprise bills. And crucially, everything stays in the UK.
What You Get
Static Host UK isn’t just hosting. It comes with everything you’d normally need to bolt on separately:
Privacy-first analytics — built-in pageview tracking with no cookies, no personal data collection, and full GDPR compliance by default. Your visitors don’t get tracked, you don’t need a cookie banner, and you still get the stats that matter: pageviews, referrers, and devices.
Free form processing — add a standard HTML form to your site and submissions get relayed straight to your email or webhook. We never store form data on our servers. Spam protection is handled by Altcha, a self-hosted proof-of-work captcha with no tracking or third-party services involved.
Git deployment — connect your GitHub or GitLab repository (including private and self-hosted repos), push to your branch, and your site builds and deploys automatically. No CI/CD pipelines to configure.
Custom domains with automatic HTTPS — bring your own domain with free TLS certificates from Let’s Encrypt, provisioned on demand. Every site gets HTTPS by default.
UK infrastructure — all data is hosted in the UK. No AWS, no Google Cloud, no Azure, no Cloudflare. GDPR compliant by design.
On top of that, you get Brotli compression, HTTP/2, security headers, and long-lived caching configured out of the box. Every build runs in a locked-down Docker container with no network access, strict resource limits, and non-root execution.
